android - Show affordance/hover/tooltip on a long-clicked View -
i show tooltip, i.e. additional non-essential information view
when user long-clicks on it.
the 2 options see in front of me using onlongclicklistener construct custom tooltip in front of clicked view; or abusing oncreatecontextmenulistener create context menu isn't.
neither seems best way go things, , i'm not sure whether either work. i've scoured web , haven't found hints. alternatives, or should wet-fish-slapped trying this? thanks!

what examples of ui pattern in mobile environment using basis decision?

really? of two, onlongclicklistener
pretty solidly right answer, imho.
any alternatives, or should wet-fish-slapped trying this?
ah, love smell of mackerel in evening...it smells victory.
(of course, i'm showing age paraphrasing apocalypse now, but, c'est la vie...)
seriously, i'm in general agreement @user432209 on one, unless have compelling examples. first, long-tap-for-help non-discoverable. second, interfere widgets have context menus, edittext
.
on phone screen, i'm skeptical per-widget going practical. on tablet screen, can see taking web approach of icon 1 side of widget -- tapping icon pops help.
again, if have seen used success somewhere in mobile, i'd interested know where.
