Visual Studio 2010 - Service Pack 1 Beta rollback? -


i installed visual studio 2010 premium @ work computer. i'm evaluating installation of vs2010 sp1 beta adjust many little problems i've noted in using vs2010.

but don't know if sp1 beta rollbackable or if if'll have reinstall vs2010 when final sp1 arrive us.

could advise me opportunity this?

uninstalling visual studio 2010 sp1 beta removes visual studio tools office (vsto) design time , features of visual studio tools sharepoint. office , sharepoint features in visual studio 2010 sp1 beta major upgrades , have different product guids in visual studio 2010 original release. therefore, when sp1 beta removed, features removed, , visual studio 2010 original-release versions must reinstalled.

to resolve issue:

in windows control panel, click uninstall program. in list of programs, right-click microsoft visual studio 2010 , click uninstall/change. in maintenance mode dialog box, click next , click add or remove features. select following features. microsoft office developer tools (x86) or (x64) office development. microsoft sharepoint developer tools sharepoint development. click update. 2.2.1.2. uninstalling visual studio 2010 sp1 beta may not donwload required packages

when visual studio 2010 sp1 beta uninstalled using add/remove programs in control panel, prompt source may displayed. avoid this, run setup.exe original location, , uninstall using setup maintenence mode.

to resolve issue:

navigate original installation location visual studio 2010 sp1 beta . run setup.exe. select remove.

regarding comment below, yes, installed vs 2010 sp1 beta, here problems got:

  • i couldn't install visual studio sdk - fixed - found there newer version vs2010sp1beta didn't realize @ first.

  • i not install phone developer sdk - fixed unrelated - contacted @scottgu , said test scenario, downloaded again , worked charm

  • few issues resharper or (can't remember exactly, minor sure) - fixed - got recent build of resharper.

if leads question "should install it?", i'd say, if need of new features in (see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg442059.aspx listing), install it. it's ok. if not, wait rtm.

if want discuss specific sp1 issues instead of uninstall, no problem in :)
